The figure was recorded from 06.00am on July 11 to 06.00am on July 12, said Nguyen Hong Tam, deputy director of the HCDC.
Tam admitted that the local healthcare sector is under great pressure as it is providing care for more than 14,000 COVID-19 patients and the number of new cases is expected to keep rising in the coming days.
Nguyen Hoai Nam, deputy director of the HCM City Department of Health also noted that the surge in case numbers has forced doctors to fan out to epidemic hit areas, resulting in a sharp decline in numbers of doctors at hospitals. In addition, doctors and nurses have been working hard to screen visitors and patients before hospitalisations.
“Pressure is increasing…. However, during the two-week social distancing period, we will try to sort out all F0 cases to keep the outbreak in check,” said Nam.
He also added that the city has deployed the highest number of doctors and orderlies for treating patients.
