2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships kicks off

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships took place on the evening of December 6th at the Quang Ninh Provincial Sports Complex, Ha Long City.

Member of the Politburo, Minister of Public Security and Chairman of the Vietnamese Public Security Sports Association General Luong Tam Quang attended and delivered opening remarks at the event.

The 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships, jointly held by the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, the Vietnamese Public Security Sports Association and the World Police Taekwondo Federation, attracted the participation of over 2,500 officials, coaches and athletes from 29 countries and territories, including 70 athletes from the host country.

The event will feature two competitions, including the 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championship for police officers and enlistees from Asian countries and the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Festival for children, teenagers, young people and the elderly.

The attending athletes will compete in several categories, including combat, performance, qigong and team fight.

In his opening remarks, Minister Luong Tam Quang stressed that the tournament does not only promote the development of Taekwondo among the Asian countries’ law enforcement forces but also serves as a bridge to strengthen cooperation between international police forces for global peace and security.

The Vietnamese Minister affirmed that the competition demonstrates Vietnam’s willingness to be a friend, a reliable partner and a responsible member of the international community, as well as its commitments to contributing to maintaining regional and global peace and stability.

Minister Luong Tam Quang believed that, with the slogan “The Power of Police! Taekwondo Police—Global Citizen Protectors,” the 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships would achieve great success, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and cooperation of law enforcement forces around the world for the global peace and security.

* In celebration of the 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships, a special art program jointly performed by the People's Public Security Music Song and Dance Theatre, the Mobile Police Command’s Ceremonial Band and the Quang Ninh’s Department of Culture and Sports was scheduled take place on the evening of December 7th at the 30/10 Square in Ha Long City.
