27 public security officers nominated as candidates for 15th NA’s deputies

The National Election Council (NEC) recently announced the official list of 868 candidates who will run for 500 seats in the 15th National Assembly. Among them, 27 candidates are high ranking public security officers at the Ministry of Public Security.

According to NEC, of 868 candidates, 203 are nominated by central agencies and 665 are introduced by localities.

General To Lam, Politburo’s member, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security is a candidate nominated by the Government.

Two public security generals, namely Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security; and Major General Le Tan Toi, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security, are candidates representing the Ministry of Public Security leadership.

The Ministry of Public Security has also nominated 12 other candidates, of which 5 candidates are working at police departments of central-run cities; 4 candidates from the provincial police departments of Quang Binh, Dong Nai, Bac Lieu and Kon Tum provinces; and 3 candidates from agencies under the Ministry of Public Security.

In addition, 9 public security officers have been nominated as candidates by local election councils while 3 others currently working at the National Assembly's National Defense and Security Committee have been nominated by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.
