More than 600 students excellent at foreign languages, history, literature and geography from all provinces and cities in Vietnam participated in the first Olympiads held by the Hanoi National University, called Olympic VNU on March 20.
622 contestants competed in different subjects, including literature, history, geography and foreign languages namely English, Russian, French, Chinese, German, Japanese and Korean.
Organizers said the competitions aim to find talents across the country and encourage the teachers to teach the subjects in a more creative and innovative manner, and students to learn them better.
Students wining high prizes can be granted direct admission to colleges under the Hanoi National University.
