75th National Conference of Public Security Forces opens

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security, on December 24, opened the 75th National Public Security Conference in Hanoi. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and delivered a keynote speech and General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, chaired the conference.

The conference also saw the participation of members of the Party Central Committee (PCC): Phan Dinh Trac, Member of the Secretariat of the PCC and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Internal Affairs; Dao Trung Viet, Minister, Head of the Presidential Office; Mai Tien Dung, Minister, Head of the Governmental Office;

Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Deputy Chairwoman of the PCC’s Inspection Commission; Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Information and Communications; Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister; and other leaders of ministries and Central agencies.

The 75th National Conference of Public Security Forces is expected to review and assess the results of the task performance of the whole Public Security Forces in 2019 and the emulation movement "For Homeland Security" in 2019. It will also roll out the forces’ major working plans in 2020.

Particularly, this year’s conference will summarize 30 years of the Public Security Forces’ implementation of the Platform on national construction according to their functions and tasks. The conference will last until December 26, 2019.

Delivering the opening speech, Minister To Lam revealed that the 75th National Conference of Public Security Forces takes place in the context that the whole Party and the whole armed forces are striving to successfully implement the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress, as well as other resolutions of the 12th Party Central Committee’s meetings on socio-economic development and the National Assembly's resolutions on prevention and fight against crimes and other law violations.

According to Minister To Lam, in 2019, the global and regional political, economy and security situation with rapid and complicated developments, posed the opportunities and advantages, difficulties and challenges to the tasks of ensuring national security, maintaining social order and safety.

Thanks to the sound leadership of the Party and State, with good coordination of the People’s Army, ministries, branches and localities, and great support from the people, the People’s Public Security Forces have excellently accomplished their main tasks of protecting national security and ensuring social order and safety, contributing to strengthening political security and creating a safe, peaceful, stable environment for the country’s socio-economic development and foreign affairs.

He noted, 2020 is a year of special significance as it is the last year to implement the Resolution of the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the National Assembly on the five-year socio-economic development plan (2016-2020) as well as the resolution of the 6th Public Security Central Party Congress. In 2020, the country will become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Chair of ASEAN and Chair of AIPA.

The year will see a number of big national-level events, particularly 90th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, 130th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh and 75th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

According to Minister To Lam, a comprehensive  and exact assessment of 2019’s task performances of the Public Security Forces could serve an important basis for the forces to draw up appropriate policies, plans and solutions to successfully implement 2020 and the following years’ key tasks.

Minister To Lam urged all delegates to thoroughly analyze the results of task performances, point out limitations and difficulties in performing the assigned tasks, recommend solutions and make forecasts on the trend of the security and order situation in the upcoming time.

They should also identify both opportunities and challenges that the Ministry of Public Security and its affiliated agencies and units would face when performing their missions of protecting national security, ensuring social order and safety, and building the People’s Public Security Forces as comprehensively strong, clean forces capable of completing all assignments.
