76th National Public Security Conference closes

PSNews - The 76th National Public Security Conference successfully concluded on the afternoon of December 7.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), Minister To Lam praised the achievements obtained by all public security agencies and units in the period of 2015 - 2020.

Minister To Lam asked the Public Security Forces to actively prevent and fight all sabotage plots and activities by hostile and reactionary forces in 2021 while closely coordinating with the People's Army, other ministries, sectors, local authorities, and mass organizations in protecting national security.

He also requested public security agencies and units to mobilize their forces and means to safeguard the 13th National Party Congress, the elections of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels, as well as other important political events in the country.

Regarding the fight against crimes, the Minister stated that in 2021 and the following years, the ministry set a target to reduce the number of social order-related offences by 5% compared to 2020. In addition, Minister To Lam asked relevant public security agencies and units to speed up the investigation to early prosecute economic and corruption cases while resolutely destroying all interprovincial and transnational drug trafficking rings.

The public security agencies and units should tighten the management of foreigners’ residence as well as of entry into and exit from Vietnam, while accelerating the progress of the national database project on population and e-ID card project by July 1, 2021.

Minister To Lam requested the public security agencies and units to carefully study the conference’s documents, the Prime Minister's directions, and the reports delivered by the ministry's leaders and then draw up their working programs for the coming time based on these documents.

* At the conference, Minister To Lam launched the emulation movement “For national security” in 2021.

Under the authority of the Prime Minister, Minister To Lam awarded the emulation flag "Excellent unit in the emulation movement in 2020" from the Government to 24 public security agencies and local units. The leadership of the MPS also awarded the emulation flag "Outstanding unit in the emulation movement “For national security” in 2020" from the Ministry of Public Security to outstanding public security units.

Under the authority of the State President, Minister To Lam and Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong awarded the Military Exploit Orders and the “Feats of Arms” Orders to teams and individuals with excellent achievements.

* On the same day, the MPS held a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City to announce the security situation in the country, the results of the Public Security Forces’ task performance in 2020 and their major missions in 2021. Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security chaired the press conference.
