7th Public Security Party Congress holds preparatory session

PSNews - The preparatory session of the 7th Public Security Party Congress for the 2020 – 2025 term opened on October 11 in Hanoi.

General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee (PSCPC) and Minister of Public Security, chaired the event.

Speaking at the preparatory session, General To Lam emphasized that, Alongside meeting the general requirements for Party congresses at all levels in accordance with Directive No. 35 of the Politburo, the 7th Public Security Party Congress must be “an exemplary and typical Party congress” as the General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong instructed recently.

On behalf of the PSCPC and the Presidium of the 7th Public Security Party Congress, Minister Lam believed that, with the careful preparation as well as the responsibility, enthusiasm and wisdom of the delegates, the important political event will be a great success, setting an example of a Party congress for other Party organizations to follow, as requested by the General Secretary and State President.

Delegates at the Party Congress elected a six-member Presidium. They also selected the Secretariat of the Congress with three members and the Board for Verification of Delegates’ Qualities.

Additionally, the delegates approved the agenda and regulations of the Congress as well as listened to the whole draft political report, Party election rules, and regulations for delegations attending the Congress.

* On the morning of the same day, General To Lam leading a delegation of the 7th Public Security Party Congresslaid a wreath at President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and showed their gratitude towards the President. They also paid tributes to the fallen at the Bac Son War Martyr Monument in Hanoi.

The 7th Public Security Party Congress for the 2020 – 2025 term is held from October 11 to 13 in Hanoi. The Congress aims to review the results of the public security Party organization’s implementation of the 6th Public Security Party Congress’s Resolution, to discuss draft objectives and missions set for the Public Security Party Committee in the 2020-2025 term. 

At the political event, delegates also review the task performance of the PSCPC in the last term, contribute ideas to the draft documents of the Party Congress, and elect a delegation to attend the 13th National Party Congress.
