Hanoi police asked to enhance checks of public observance of social distancing measures

PSNews – Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) chaired a virtual meeting on July 25 with the Hanoi Municipal Police Department on the observance of Directive No.16 in the city. 

At the meeting, Senior Colonel Tran Ngoc Duong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Municipal Police Department briefed the Deputy Minister on the implementation of Directive No.16 in the capital over the last few days.

According to the report, the Hanoi police established a Steering Committee for the implementation of Directive No.16 to update and exchange information with the local People’s Committee and relevant functional branches about the pandemic situation while maintaining forces around the clock to check local people’s observance of the social distance measure in line with the directive. 

100% police units in Hanoi apply QR codes to control people in and out. COVID-19 disinfection chambers have been installed at the city police headquarters as well as at some district police stations.

The city police also changed face-to-face meetings into virtual ones to prevent COVID-19.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son stressed that one of the import goals in this social distance period is to detect every COVID infection case in the community and quickly trace the source of transmissions in order to swiftly isolate the COVID-hit area and stamp out the outbreak. 

The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the important contribution of the Hanoi police to the COVID-19 prevention and control effort of the city and the Public Security Forces.

The Deputy Minister asked the city police to grasp the situation, promptly advised local the Party committee and authority on measures to resolve problems arising during the implementation of Directive No.16.

Deputy Minister also asked the Hanoi police to continue playing their leading and key role in the fight against COVID-19, and implement the pandemic prevention mission in the most serious manner.

He also urged the local police to pay attention to preventing COVID-19 at detention houses while conducting the COVID-19 vaccination plan for local police officers and soldiers as scheduled.
