Minister To Lam receives incoming Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam

The meeting saw the presence of Mr. Pedro Soca Pascual, representative of the Cuban Ministry of the Interior in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam congratulated Mr. Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén and wished him success in his term of office in Vietnam. He also extended congratulations on the success of the 8th National Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba in April 2021.

The diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba were officially established in 1960. Despite geographic distance and difficult circumstances, Cuba has always stood side by side as a sincere friend and trustworthy comrade supporting the Vietnamese people. The Vietnamese people will never forget the Cuban cadres, experts and citizens who came to Vietnam during the years of fierce war. 

The Party, State and people of Vietnam in general and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in particular always appreciate and remember Cuba's spiritual and material support for Vietnam in its struggle for national liberation in the past as well as its current construction and defense cause.

Minister To Lam affirmed that the traditional solidarity, mutual support and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba have been developing in all fields such as politics, society, economy, and culture. The traditional friendship between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of the Interior of Cuba has increasingly been strengthened on the basis of the loyal and close relationship between the two countries.

In the coming time, Minister To Lam suggested that the two ministries continue actively supporting each other and strengthen cooperation in national security protection, social order maintenance, and COVID-19 prevention and control.

The minister hoped that, in his new position, Mr. Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén will make a large contribution to promoting the comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba in general and between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of the Interior of Cuba in particular.

Mr. Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén thanked Minister To Lam for the warm reception, and emphasized that he would try his best to deepen the fine relations and cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
