Major Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai donates blood to save heart patients on the morning of November 15.

According to statistics, approximately 99.96% of people belong to the Rh+ blood group (O+ or B+ or A+ or AB+ in descending order) but only 0.04%- 0.07% of people have Rh- blood (O- or B- or A- or AB-) in Vietnam.

Major Hoai only knew her blood of type O Rh- 9 years ago when she was about to give birth to her first child. Since then, she has wanted to share precious blood to people in need.

"I have a caesarean each time of giving birth, so more than anyone else, I clearly understand that people with the rare blood group are always facing risks as blood banks in hospitals are always short of this rare type of blood, and few people have and can donate the rare blood type", Major Hoai shared.

She has also joined the club "Rare blood in the North," a live rare blood type bank for people in need.

Thanks to her donated blood, the surgery was a success and the patient’s life was saved. With her good deeds, she has promoted a beautiful image of police officers who are always dedicated to the people and the community.
