A son of NgheTinh attached to Central Highlands for 30 years

PSNews-Born and brought up in Ha Tinh province, but due to his work and firm bonds with local people, Senior Colonel Dinh Sy Tue, Head of the Ethnic Security Department of the Dak Nong Provincial Police, has become attached to the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong, considering it his second homeland.

During his career, Senior Colonel Tue has traveled to all hamlets of the province and he has won the soul and heart of local people.

During his 32 years as a security officer, he has spent 30 years in the Central Highlands.

This may be the reason why local people see him as a member of their communities and call him “Ma Ngoc” or “Bap Ngoc”, meaning “Father of Ngoc” (Ngoc is Tue’s daughter) in their languages.

Senior Colonel Tue graduated from the People’s Security University (predecessor of the current People’s Security Academy), and with his young enthusiasm and knowledge from the university, he volunteered to work at the Political Protection Division of the Dak Lak Provincial Police.

In 2001, he was appointed to work at the Security Office of Dak Song district. 4 years later, he was promoted to be Vice Chief of the Dak Glong District Police, Dak Nong province, he then served as Head of the Social Security Section and, most recently, Chief of the Ethnic Security Division of the Dak Nong Provincial Police.

“It’s a real challenge to maintain security and order in a mountainous area, where so many ethnic minority people live. To fulfill given tasks, it is important for any security officer to have great love for his career so that he could proactively overcome all difficulties.

You should treat local people well, listening to their stories and then making them listen to you, as well as learning about their thinking and sentiment so that you could soon detect and settle issues and cases in the locality on time,” Senior Colonel Tue spoke about his work, adding that local police officers have to overcome many difficulties in transportation and complicated security and order situations.

To work effectively, young police officer Tue read books about their customs and practices and learnt ethnic minority languages from local people.

With his great effort and support from local people, he became fluent in local ethnic languages.

Since he could communicate with local ethnic minorities, he gained trust from local people and managed to solve all disputes among the local ethnic community.

Thanks to his working expertise and close relationship with local people, since 2004, Senior Colonel Dinh Sy Tue either directly participated in or directed forces to detect and crack down on 13 sub-organizations of FULRO, a local hostile organization, and seize 200 covert supporters of hostile forces in rural villages and related exhibits.

Particularly, at the turn of 2004, thanks to rich understanding of the locality and good mass mobilization, Tue as the Head of the Security sub-Division of the Dak Song District Police and his team discovered reactionaries inciting and forcing dozens of locals to riot in various villages, then gathered at the heart of Dak Mil’s district in revolt and then flee to Cambodia.

The sincere sentiment and good behavior of Mr. Dinh Sy Tue and his comrades in relations with local people, misguided locals surrendered themselves to the police and reported inciters and ring leaders to the police.

During his career as a security police officer protecting national security in the Central Highlands, Senior Colonel Dinh Sy Tue has been rewarded with various orders and noble titles by the Party, State, Ministry of Public Security as well as local authorities. But the most precious award he has received is the good sentiment and trust of local people, who has called him the dear name "Ma Ngoc" in their language.

However, Senior Colonel Tue has never been satisfied with his achievements; on the contrary, he has always been concerned about what he has not done to the land and people.

This has also become an imperative for him to work harder to contribute more to ensuring peaceful life for all ethnic minority people in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong.
