A woman doctor honored for outstanding fire prevention projects

PSNews – Major, Doctor of Science (Dr.) Nguyen Thi Mua of the Fire and Rescue Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security was honored as one of the five excellent women scientists of Vietnam in 2016 for her outstanding research projects on fire prevention.

Working with passion, Major Nguyen Thi Mua has invented and improved various products and materials used in firefighting, highly appreciated by authorities and sectors.

For her dedication, Major Nguyen Thi Mua was honored by the L’Oreal – UNESCO For Women in Science program held in Hanoi in December 2016.

In addition, the woman Doctor of the Fire and Rescue Police Department also received other awards from the Ministry of Public Security for her enthusiasm in studying heat-resistant materials with an aim to improve the efficiency of fire prevention and firefighting and rescue of the country.

Speaking to the Public Security Newspaper, Major Nguyen Thi Mua said she would not rest on her laurels as she would continue doing research and teaching.

“Teaching at the University of Firefighting and Prevention, I have well understood the difficulties in performing tasks of the firefighting police. Therefore, I want to apply my knowledge to finding new heat resistant materials, aiming to protect people and their properties,” said Dr. Mua, adding that she has just created a number of new heat resistant fabric samples, which can be used in fire prevention.

The samples, according to her, meet the Vietnamese National Standard, with the thermal durability up to 554°C, mechanical strength higher than 20kN/m and heat resistance capacity of 15 minutes.
