As scaffolding collapses in Hai Phong, police search for victim all night

PSNews – Senior Colonel Do Quang Trung, Chief of the An Duong District Police Station  (Hai Phong) on August 9 announced that, the body of a victim stuck in the rubble was taken out after 8 hours of searching.

On August 8, a serious labor accident occurred at the construction site of Minh Tan Trading Joint Stock Company (Bac Son commune, An Duong district). While builders were pouring fresh concrete at a tall building, the scaffolding at this project suddenly collapsed, leaving one dead and 7 injured.

At the time of the incident, there were dozens of workers at the construction site. Fortunately, some people had managed to escape the scene before the platform fell down. According to the police, the accident might result from low quality materials of the scaffolding.

On hearing the report, leaders of An Duong District People's Committee in coordination with the local police and the Hai Phong Municipal Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Division conducted the search for a person still missing.

30 police officers and soldiers participated in the search for the missing. As the ground was piled up with concrete, iron and steel, the excavation was extremely difficult. The search forces mobilized both heavy excavators and specialized machines to search for the missing.

After about 8 hours working hard, the search forces found and took out the body of the victim, which was trapped in piles of debris. Currently, the police are still investing the case.
