ASEAN Police Football Tournament 2025 opens in Ha Noi

The 2025 ASEAN Police Football Tournament officially opened on the evening of July 9, 2025, at Hang Day Stadium in Hanoi.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang present flowers and souvenir flags to heads of the football teams at the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Police Football Open 2025. 

The event saw the presence of Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security.

Also in attendance were representatives from central and local departments, ministries, and agencies; leaders of police units and localities; representatives of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, the Vietnam People's Public Security Sports Association, the Vietnam Football Federation, the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company, as well as representatives of units and businesses supporting the tournament.

More than 20 ambassadors and representatives of embassies and diplomatic missions in Vietnam also attended the ceremony, along with nearly 10,000 football fans in the stadium and many more watching on television.

The tournament running from July 7 to 15 is part of activities marking the 80th anniversary of the Viet Nam People's Public Security Force and the 20th anniversary of the All-People’s National Defence Day (August 19).

Exclusively organized for police forces of ASEAN countries and partners, the tournament is not only an opportunity for officers and soldiers to improve physical fitness and build team spirit, but also a platform to strengthen friendship and cooperation among forces responsible for ensuring regional security and order.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang warmly welcomed delegates, distinguished guests, and international friends attending the 2025 ASEAN Police Football Tournament, which aims to strongly promote the spirit of solidarity, discipline, dedication, and inspiration through football.

It seeks to enhance friendship and cooperation among countries in the region and globally, as well as between Vietnam and its international partners. The tournament also promotes close and effective collaboration among police forces in maintaining security and order, preventing and combating crime, especially transnational crime, for peace, safety, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.

Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his belief that the 2025 ASEAN Police Football Tournament will be a great success. He hoped it would offer exciting matches, beautiful goals, and a lasting impression.

The ceremony concluded with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Minister Luong Tam Quang presenting flowers and souvenir flags to the 8 heads of delegation participating in the tournament. The Ministry of Public Security also presented honorary plaques to supporting units and businesses.

The eight teams - five from Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, and Timor Leste, one from Australia, and two from Viet Nam, are split into two groups and will play in a round-robin format.

The champion will receive 30,000 USD, a trophy, and gold medals. The runner-up earns 15,000 USD and silver medals, while both third-place teams will receive 10,000 USD each.
