Businesses return to HCM City’s pavements

Many pavements in HCM City centre have again been adopted by business, particularly restaurants and bars.

The use of the pavements is commonplace whether day or night.

Some streets in District 1 which faced the strict clear-out early this year have returned to their previous state.

Bien Duong 3 Restaurant uses the pavement on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street for their business every evening, starting from 8 pm. The restaurant was previously fined for this violation following the instruction of Doan Ngoc Hai, Vice Chairman of District 1 People’s Committee.

Chairs and tables of A Ti Restaurant on Hoang Sa Street are on the pavement of Hoang Sa Street. Meanwhile, on Vo Van Kiet Street, a restaurant occupies the pavement to serve their customers.

Tran The Thuan, Chairman of District 1 People’s Committee, admitted the problem, adding that this has tended to expand on many different local pavements, including Le Chan, Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Nguyen Binh Khiem, Nguyen Hue and Bui Vien streets.
