Cambodia’s press delegation visits CAND Newspaper

PSNews – A delegation of 9 Cambodian journalists led by Ms. Koch Meardey, Deputy Director of National Television of Kampuchea (TVK) paid a visit to the Public Security (CAND) Newspaper.

The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Minh Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, MPS; Ms. Do Quynh Le, Deputy Head of the Foreign Relations Division under Department of Press, Ministry of Information and Telecommunications. Major General Pham Van Mien, Editor-in-chief of CAND Newspaper and other delegates of the newspaper.

At the meeting, Major General Pham Van Mien briefed the participants on the development of the Newspaper.

He stressed that the CAND Newspaper regularly sends its reporters to various nations in the world, including Cambodia, to report news about the countries.

“In the past years, the Vietnamese Police Force of the Ministry of Public Security and the Cambodian National Police under the Ministry of the Interior have maintained good relations. The CAND Newspaper as an agency under the MPS has also had fine relations with communications units under the Cambodian National Police in particular and the press of Cambodia in general.

After 1979, the CAND Newspaper has sent 2 experts to Cambodia, helping the Ministry of the Interior of Cambodia publish its Magazine and Bulletin.

Ms. Koch Meardey expressed gratitude to the CAND Newspaper for the warm reception.

She informed that Cambodia currently has 812 press agencies, including 22 TV channels (1 online TV channel), and 330 radio stations (72 online radio stations). Recently, the Cambodian National Police have their own television and radio station.

She stressed that the CAND Newspaper is among the leading newspapers in Vietnam. She hoped that the CAND Newspaper in particular and other press agencies in Vietnam in general would promote cooperation and exchange activities with press agencies of Cambodia for the sake of mutual support and development.
