The detainee is Le Minh The, 55, who resides in An Thoi ward of Binh Thuy district.

According to the police’s initial investigation results, since the beginning of 2017, The has created many Facebook accounts to post, share and comment on information distorting the Party and State’s guidelines and policies, as well as slandering the regime, administrations at different levels, and Party and State leaders.

Binh Thuy district’s police found that since June 2018 until his arrest, The used his personal Facebook accounts to contact reactionaries in Vietnam and other countries to livestream, inciting people to join demonstrations against the draft law on special administrative-economic units and the law on cyber security.

His actions were found to have influenced the prestige of the Party, the State, and central and local leaders, triggered scepticism in the public, and affected security and order in the locality.

The police have seized many documents proving his violations at his house.

They are conducting further investigation into the case.
