The event saw the presence of Mr. Vo Thanh Thong, Chairman of the Can Tho Municipal People’s Committee.

The development of the national database on the local population would also facilitate searches for information on citizens when handling administrative and civil affairs, without referring to certified copies of citizens’ documents.

Addressing the conference, Mr. Vo Thanh Thong, urged relevant departments, agencies and all people's committees of districts to seriously and effectively implement the project.

He also asked local authorities to intensify education and dissemination of legal documents relating to the development, management and exploitation of the national database on population among agencies, organizations and individuals under their governance.

Vo Thanh Thong also highlighted the importance of education and training of officers in charge of collecting and updating population data. He urged involved agencies to propose solutions to improving the efficiency, simplifying and shortening the process of collecting and updating the national population database.
