Trung and Junior Lieutenant Pham Van Chinh, who were injured on duty.

Some time ago, Trung had to hold a funeral of his mother, who had died of cancer.

After his mother’s funeral, Trung suffered health problems due to the recurrence of his old injuries. He then went to Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi and underwent an operation. On August 24, Trung partially recovered and left the hospital but was still treated as an outpatient at home.

According to their comrades, since Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thanh Trung and Junior Lieutenant Pham Van Chinh were young, dynamic, strong and well qualified policemen so they were selected for the working team to implement Plan 12. The team  was responsible for patrolling the locality, promoting dissemination of traffic law and regulations and handling violations of traffic and social order and safety as well as other crimes. The working team fulfilled their tasks and obtained various achievements.

Accordingly, on August 1, the Traffic Patrol Team, under the Traffic Police of Quang Ninh, led by Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thanh Trung, detected a black car with suspicious signs running toward Cam Pha from Mong Cai. They signaled the driver to stop but the driver did not get off the car.

According to the driver’s personal documents, it was Nguyen Duc Hai, 25, resident of Cap Tien village, Dong Ca commune, Van Don district (Quang Ninh province). But the passenger on the car  had no personal documents.

Carefully checking the car, the policemen discovered a pillow containing drugs. When the policemen started checking the pillow, Hai suddenly got on the car and drove it away from the scene.

The policemen detected 3 plastic bags containing numerous pills suspected of synthetic drugs.

The Patrol Team chased the suspected car while asking other police forces for help.

Racing 4km against the suspected car, the police’s car suddenly crashed into an obstacle on the road, causing injuries to Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thanh Chung and Junior Lieutenant Pham Van Chinh. After the accident, the two injured policemen were taken to the hospital.

According to sources, after checking the pillow, the Drug-related Crime Police Office of of Quang Ninh found 3,000 pills of synthetic drugs.
