Communal police force maintains order and security in Dong Thap

Professional police officers deployed to communal posts in Dong Thap province have contributed to preventing and fighting crimes, settling security and order problems in various communes of Dong Thap province.

Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Hung Hieu was deployed and appointed as Chief of the communal police post of Tan Hoi Co, Tan Hong district, Dong Thap in April 2019. This commune is home to 2 border gates. Hieu is well aware of his tasks of ensuring security and order, fighting crimes and social evils, settling all civil conflicts in the commune.

Hieu and his fellow officers have closely coordinated with the local Border Guard and Customs forces in controlling illegal entries as well as in preventing and fighting crime.

Colonel Van Vu Quoc Khuong, Chief of the Police Station of Tan Hong district, said that the district has 3 border communes, namely Binh Phu, Tan Ho Co and Thong Binh. The communal police officers actively coordinated with other forces and broke a major drug trafficking case with over 45 kg of illicit drugs seized.

The professional police officers deployed to communal posts with their good professional expertise and experience promptly grasped the local situation, handled security issues and fostered the national protection movement in the locality. They also mobilized the joint strength of the people in the fight against crimes in the border areas.

Hong Ngu, another district of Dong Thap, has 3 border communes and 2 border gates. Criminals often take advantage of local difficult terrains in the district to conduct their illegal activities.

Major Duong Trung Tinh, Chief of the communal police post of Thuong Lac, a border commune, said the professional police officers always grasped the local security situation and detected crimes; as a result, they successfully various drug trafficking and smuggling cases in the area.

Many local youngsters used to be involved in drug trafficking and drug abuse several years before.

After Thuong Lac commune was formed on the basis of two former communes so the situation was complicated. But since professional police officers were deployed to the locality, the local order and security situation has been maintained, and the number of cases of drug trafficking and drug abuse involving local people has sharply been reduced.
