Counter-Narcotics Police Department works with Thanh Hoa police

PSNews - A delegation of the Counter-Narcotics Police Department led by Major General Nguyen Van Vien, Director of the department, worked with the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department on prevention and combat of drug crime in the province.

At the working session, Senior Colonel Khuong Duy Oanh, Deputy Director of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department, briefed delegates on the results of the fight against drug-related crimes in Thanh Hoa.

According to the report, the drug-related crimes situation in Thanh Hoa has been complicated over the past years, especially in urban areas and localities bordering Laos.

Following the directions of the Ministry of Public Security and Thanh Hoa authorities, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department has deployed synchronously measures to prevent and drastically fight drug-related crimes.

During the last peak month, functional forces of the province investigated 125 drug-related cases, arrested 285 suspects involved, and eradicated 11 hotspots of drugs trading, seized nearly 35,000 synthetic narcotics tablets and many other kinds of narcotics.

Speaking at the meeting, Major General Nguyen Van Vien highly appreciated the effort and resolve of Thanh Hoa in preventing and combating drug crimes in the past time.

He asked the provincial police to increase public education and information to raise people’s awareness against drug use and trade. He also requested that the provincial police forces should enhance coordination in the fight against drugs-related crimes in the province.
