Counter-Narcotics Police Force marks 25th anniversary

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of the Counter-Narcotics Police Force (March 12, 1997 – 2022).

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam appreciated the efforts and achievements of the Counter-Narcotics Police Force.

The event saw the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; Deputy Ministers of Pubic Security, Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung and Major General Le Van Tuyen as well as former leaders of the MPS.

Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam noted that over the past few years, 27 officers and soldiers of the counter-narcotics border guards and policemen, including those in their twenties, have died and 700 others have been injured or exposed to HIV while doing their duties.

The Party, State and people always appreciate and remember their sacrifices for the peace of the country, noted Dam.

The deputy PM added that the situation of drug crime would be more complicated in the time to come, negatively affecting public order and security in the country, threatening sustainable growth of the economy, and causing more issues of public concern.

He asked the counter-narcotics police force to enhance law dissemination in communities, especially young people, so as to raise the public awareness of the harm of drug abuse and prevention of drug-related crimes.

On this occasion, the first-class Feat of Arms Order was awarded by the State President to the Counter-Narcotics Police Department.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung honored the police officers and soldiers who had died or been injured in the fight against drug crimes.

For its great exploits over the past 25 years, the Counter-Narcotics Police Force has been awarded with noble titles and awards, including Hero of the People's Armed Forces, third-class Military Exploit Order, while various officers and subunits under the Department were also rewarded.

On this occasion, the first-class Feat of Arms Order was awarded by the State President to the Counter-Narcotics Police Department.
