Counter-narcotics police play core role in preventing and controlling drug trafficking -0
Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc makes keynote speech at the conference.

Over the past year, the Counter-Narcotics Police Department has directed local-level counter-narcotics units to grasp the situation of drug trafficking and drug addition in their localities, and take comprehensive professional measures, and complete both regular and unexpected tasks.

The large achievements of the force include successfully destroying a narcotics trafficking line from foreign countries to Vietnam seizing a total of 1.3 tons of Ketamine; clearing two cases of making "happy water" and putting drugs in electronic cigarettes and trading them in cyberspace.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc praised the force for their great work achievements in 2023, highlighting five major victories: (1) Seizing a largest-ever amount of narcotics; (2) Clearing a number of large-scale drug trafficking cases; (3) Effectively cooperating and coordinating with international partners, contributing to preventing drug trafficking early and from afar; (4) Giving strategic advice to the Government and the Ministry of Public Security on solutions to effectively prevent and control drug trafficking and drug abuse; (5) Playing a key role in preventing and combating illicit drugs.

According to the Deputy Minister, the situation will remain complicated in the coming time; in other words, drug trafficking continues to increase, the number of addicts in society will remain large, and drug traffickers will be more daredevil and cunning so the entire force should take both social and professional preventive measures, thoroughly grasp the situation and apply scientific and technological advances to control drug trafficking and drug abuse.
