Crime Control Cooperation

Can Tho – September 22nd saw the organization of the summarizing conference of 2011-2015 drug control program.

The conference was held thanks to the cooperation of Can Tho Public Security Department, Association of Elderly and Farmer’s Union.

After 5 years of cooperation, the three agencies had successfully organized 122,929 events of information dissemination on promoting mass protection of national security with the participation of over 4 million people.

The disseminations helped to raise people’s awareness of national security. The masses had provided over 12 thousand pieces of information contributing to investigation activities. The fine outcomes also reflexed in retrieval of 633 firearms in various types, 2,315 bullets, 316 homemade guns or establishment of 49 local groups with 2,024 members.

Furthermore, they managed to establish and maintain 280 models of public awareness dissemination. Particularly, “Security and Social Order” gates have been built in 8 out of 9 districts of the city with the financial donation of the people. Other examples should be the “3 NO” movement, standing for “No criminals, No prostitution and No drug” or model of crime reporting hotlines, providing 4,228 valuable pieces of intelligence, proactively contributed to the success investigation of 2,599  cases and arrest of 5,497 suspects). Education and dissemination model for ex-prisoners helped to create jobs for some 1,200 people.

In the time to come, the three agencies are committed to conduct further cooperation for better prevention and suppression of crimes, making contribution to security and social order in the city. Taking this occasion, Can Tho People’s Committee praised individuals and organization with outstanding achievements in crime control cooperation.
