Da Nang focuses on security and safety preparation for APEC Summit 2017

PSNews – Senior Colonel Le Van Tam, Director of the Da Nang Municipal Public Security Department, told the Public Security (CAND) Newspaper that the city’s police forces had prepared thoroughly for the events and activities of the APEC Summit 2017, to be held in the city from November 6 to 11.

The Da Nang Municipal Public Security Department has had meetings with the APEC 2017 Security and Order Subcommittee of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), leaders of the Municipal Party Committee, People’s Committee and relevant agencies on the preparation for the events and activities of the APEC Summit 2017. The city’s police forces have actively deployed plans to ensure security and order in the city.

The city’s police will continue to check and review security and safety plans for the venues of the events and activities of the APEC Summit 2017.

Additionally, the city’s Police Department also advised the Municipal Party Committee and People’s Committee on issuing policies and taking measures to maintain political security and social order and safety whiling coordinating closely with involved agencies and forces to install security and traffic surveillance cameras at key places.

To well direct forces during the APEC Summit 2017, the MPS established a Center of Command in Da Nang and supported to upgrade the Command Center of the city’s police.

The two Command Centers are responsible for processing and analyzing all images collected from different venues  helping leaders give timely directions and instruct forces to implement suitable plans to ensure security and order at the places of events of the APEC Summit 2017.

So far, the two Command Centers of the MPS and Da Nang Police have been connected to the city’s surveillance camera systems, and the image transmission network has been through.

Professional units under the MPS and Da Nang Police have also synchronously implemented measures to ensure absolute safety for the Internet connection and communications system for the APEC Summit Week while reinforcing cyber safety, and security.

In addition, the police forces of Da Nang city are asked to closely follow developments of the situation; prevent and handle factors that may affect order and security; and strengthen the state management of order and security in all areas, management of residence and travel and management of foreigners’ activities.

Additionally, the maintenance of traffic safety is also specially focusedby the Da Nang police forces because it may have direct impact on security and order of the APEC Summit 2017.

With the participation of leaders from 21 member economies, more than 10,000 delegates and tens of thousands of specialized means of transportation in the city, ensuring traffic safety is a great challenge for the local police forces. Therefore, the Traffic Police of Da Nang city and Police Department under the MPS have carefully surveyed the routes the conference venues of the events activities within the framework of the APEC Summit 2017 to draw up the best plans to guide the delegations and control the traffic.
