Da Nang introduces Railway Police Squad

PSNews-The Da Nang Municipal Police announced adecision by the city’s Police Chief on establishing the Railway Police Squadunder the city’s Traffic Police Office.

Under the decision signed by the Director of the Da Nang Police, the Railway Police Squad is in charge of monitoring and inspecting railway traffic and handling of violations of the traffic law related to railways;coordinating with other forces to prevent and combat crimes and other acts of violation on local railways in the area; participating in investigations into railway accidents; protecting the safety of trains carrying high-ranking leaders of the Party, the State, and international delegations.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Chinh, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Police Department, assessed that the number of traffic accidents and crimes related to railways has recently been on the rise and the situation has become more and more complex. The length of the railway section in Da Nang city is quite long with 40km, which runs through 4 districts and creates 62 crossings with roads, Chinh said.Meanwhile, the number of passengers and cargo departs and arrives at Da Nang railway station is also increasing.Therefore, the establishment of the Railway Police Squad is of importance to ensure traffic safety and crime prevention.
