Danang’s second field hospital ready to treat COVID-19 patients

PSNews - A field hospital at the Tien Son Sports Center in Danang city was completed on August 5 after days of installation, ready share the treatment load of COVID-19 patients with the city's hospitals.

At first, 284 sick-beds have been installed. In case of wider outbreaks, the hospital is capable of installing 700-1,000 sick-beds. COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms will be referred here to ease burden on hospitals in Danang.

Assembled with light materials, the field hospital’s designs meet the safety standards required by the Ministry of Health in terms of safe distance for isolation of infectious diseases; natural ventilation; the site and paths arranged to avoid cross-infection; and signboards showing ways to each patient room installed.

The entire patient area is covered with cameras, while firefighting and rescue devices as well as the wireless Internet system have also been installed.

Ngo Thi Kim Yen, director of Danang’s Department of Health, said that the hospital would have a laboratory for blood, hematology, biochemistry and ion testing. The simple test will be conducted here while the more complicated will be carried out in other health facilities.

In addition to local human resources, the Ministry of Health has mobilized nurses and doctors from other hospitals throughout the country to assist Danang in medical examination and treatment. Danang has reported more than 200 cases since the virus reappeared there on July 25.
