Department for Information and Communications urged to increase coverage of COVID-19 fight

PSNews - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security, on April 6 worked with the Department for Information and Communications on the department’s information service on the COVID-19 epidemic in the past time and the unit’s tasks in upcoming time.

At the meeting, Lieutenant General Mai Van Ha, Director of the Department for Information and Communications briefed the Deputy Minister and other delegates on the department’s task performance in recent times, especially results of the unit’s information service in support of the COVID-19 prevention and control work.

The Director of the Department for Information and Communications also reported on the results of the implementation of the Master Plan to re-organize public security press and media agencies as well as the progress of drafting new functions and missions of the department in line with the new organization of the Ministry of Public Security.

Regarding the COVID-19 prevention and control work, Lieutenant General Mai Van Ha affirmed that all officers, soldiers and workers of the Department for Information and Communications have strictly followed instructions of the Party, the Government and the Ministry of Public Security on the disease prevention and control.

As a unit of the Ministry of Public Security responsible for information and communications, the Department for Information and Communications has reflected the Public Security Forces’ efforts, achievements and sacrifices in preventing and fighting COVID-19 in a timely, accurate and effective manner on newspapers, as well as television and radio programs.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and achievements obtained by the Department for Information and Communications’ officers, soldiers and workers in the past time, contributing to the country’s success in COVID-19 prevention and control.

He urged public security journalists to go to the frontline of the fight against COVID-19 and vividly reflect the work of police officers in quarantine areas and medical workers treating COVID-19 patients at hospital. They should report more good examples of public security officers and soldiers in the fight against COVID-19.

The Deputy Minister also urged public security journalists to proactively fight wrong views, false and fake information about the COVID-19 situation and the disease prevention and fight in the country.

He also asked the unit to soon complete the Master Plan to re-organize the public security press and media system for more effectiveness and efficiency in line with the instructions from the Central Public Security Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership while accelerating the project to revise its functions and missions in accordance with its new organization.
