Department of Foreign Affairs rolls out plans for 2018

PSNews – The Department of Foreign Affairs under the Ministry of Public Security held a conference to review its task performance in 2017 and roll out plan for 2018, on January 17 afternoon, in Hanoi, with the presence of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

On behalf of the Central Party Committee of Public Security and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General Thanh congratulated the department on its achievements in 2017.

Briefing the Party's and State's policies of actively promoting international integration and the 2018 working directions of the ministry, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh instructed all officers and soldiers of the department to strictly follow the working principle of the Public Security Forces: "Innovative, Proactive, Disciplined, Responsible and Effective," and the guidance of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the 73rd National Conference of Public Security Forces: “Be ready to sacrifice themselves for the Fatherland and people”, “The destiny of the Party closely attached to each one” and “For one, honor is the most sacred and noble” while performing their duties.

He also suggested the department should actively advise leaders of the ministry on international cooperation activities, especially cooperation and coordination with INTERPOL, ASEANPOL as well as other international organizations, to deal with transnational crimes, foreign-related crimes, contributing to ensuring national security, social order and enhancing reputation of Vietnam and the Public Security Forces of Vietnam in the international arena.

The department should also focus on recruiting and training cadres to be qualified for political, professional and legal knowledge, meeting the requirements of the current situation.

In 2017, under the directions of the Party, the State and the Ministry of Public Security, the Department of Foreign Affairs effectively promoted external relations and international cooperation in width and depth while taking the lead among other agencies and forces under the Ministry of Public Security in international integration.

In particular, the department played a key role in the ministry's activities to celebrate the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Year and Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Year, strengthening the unity and friendship between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Security of Laos and the Ministry of Home Affairs of Cambodia.

With its great achievements in the movement "For Fatherland Security 2017", the Department of Foreign Affairs received the “Emulation” flag of the Ministry of Public Security.
