Department of Internal Security rolls out working plan for 2020

The Department of Internal Security on January 7 held a conference to review its task performance in 2019 and roll out its working plan for 2020.

Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security, attended and delivered a keynote speech at the meeting. Lieutenant General Nguyen Khac Khanh, Director of the Department of Internal Security, chaired the conference.

In 2019, the Department of Internal Security took preventive measures to successfully protect political security, cultural security, ideological security, information and communication security as well as State secrets.

The department also effectively promoted the fight against sabotage plots and activities of reactionary and hostile forces, and defended the Party's ideological basis.

Particularly, the internal security sector implemented various plans to ensure safety and security for important national political, cultural, economic, and social events, as well as international conferences hosted by Vietnam.

At this point, the sector has crafted specific plans to protect Party congresses at all local levels and the 13th National Party Congress, as well as to safeguard trials on political, economic and corruption-related cases.

In 2019, the Department of Internal Security, in coordination with the Department of Security Investigation and local police forces, investigated and handled security-related criminal cases, and prosecuted more than 10 persons involved.

Under the authority of the Minister of Public Security, Lieutenant General Nguyen Khac Khanh awards the Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Public Security to six units with outstanding achievements.

Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang recognized and praised the achievements and results gained by the Department of Internal Security.

Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang asked the department to further strengthen the State governance over information security in order to promptly detect and handle crimes abusing freedom of press and speech to sabotage the organization of the Party congresses at all levels.

The department should also attach special importance to Party and force building and enhance the observance of the People's Public Security Forces’ discipline and regulations. Accordingly, leaders and high-ranking officers at the department should set examples at work and in following the laws and regulations.
