Department of Legal Affairs and Administrative, Judicial Reforms receives “Feat of Arms” Order

PSNews - The Department of Legal Affairs and Administrative, Judicial Reforms under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting on October 27 to celebrate its 45th founding anniversary.

The event saw the presence of Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

The Office of Legal Affairs (the current Department of Legal Affairs and Administrative, Judicial Reforms) under the Ministry of the Interior (the precursor of the Ministry of Public Security) was established in 1975.  Over 45 years of development, the public security legal affairs sector has made great contributions to ensuring public order and security as well as building the legal and justice system of Vietnam.

Over the past 15 years, the department has advised the Ministry of Public Security to draft 1,455 legal documents related to the State management over security and order protection, crime prevention and fight. At present, the department takes the lead in drafting the revised Law on Anti-Drug and the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety.

Further, the public security legal affairs sector has advised the Government and ministries to negotiate, sign, join and effectively implement hundreds of international treaties and agreements related to security and order, especially 69 bilateral agreements on mutual criminal justice assistance, transfer and extradition of sentenced persons, and crime prevention and combat.

On the occasion of its 45th founding anniversary, the Department of Legal Affairs and Administrative, Judicial Reforms was awarded the Second-Class “Feat of Arms” Order by the State President.

Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong acknowledged and praised the achievements made by the public security legal affairs sector over the past 45 years.

The Deputy Minister requested the Department of Legal Affairs and Administrative, Judicial Reforms and the public security legal affairs sector to further improve the quality and efficiency of law-drafting work in the coming time.

Furthermore, it should promote scientific research and apply scientific and technological advances to work while seeking modern approaches to popularize laws and monitor law enforcement as well as promote administrative reforms in the Public Security Forces, creating favorable conditions for organizations and people to handle public services at public security agencies.
