Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam asks Son La police to suppress crimes during Tet

PSNews – The Son La Provincial Police held a conference on January 21 to review its task performance in 2017, roll out its working plan for 2018 and receive the Government’s emulation flag for the excellent unit.

Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security and representatives of the Son La authorities attended the conference.

In 2017, the Son La Provincial Police thoroughly grasped the directions of the Central Party Committee of Public Security, leadership of the Ministry of Public Security and Son La authorities and successfully fulfilled all assignments, following the slogan "Innovative, Proactive, Disciplined, Responsible, Effective".

The unit actively advised the Ministry of Public Security on many polices and solutions to ensure social security and order; effectively maintained border security, rural security, economic security, internal security; ensured the absolute safety for activities of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Year held in the province; enhanced measures to prevent and control crimes and social vices, contributing to maintaining the political stability and promoting socio-economic development of the province.

In particular, the Son La Provincial Police focused on investigating serious cases, in which the force seixed 111.97 kg of heroin; 72.6 kg of opium; 334,967 of synthetic drugs and 3.4 kg of other drugs. The rate of traffic accidents decreased remarkably, ranking 11th among the country’s 63 provinces and cities in terms of numbers of traffic accidents. 

Additionally, officers and soldiers of the Son La Provincial Police played an important role in helping flood victims in Muong La, Phu Yen and Van Ho districts overcome damages.

Addressing the conference, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam stressed that the Son La Police should continuously intensify force building and expand the movement “All People Protecting National Security”, and especially launch an intensive attack on crimes during the upcoming Lunar New Year festival (Tet).

At the conference, on behalf of the State President, Prime Minister and leaders of the ministry, Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam presented a third-class “Fatherland Protection” Order, the Government’s and the Ministry’s emulation flag for the excellent unit in 2017 to the Son La Provincial Police.
