Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam works with Department of Immigration

PSNews – The department issued online visas to nearly 21,000 foreign people, of whom over 12,000 have entered Vietnam.

Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam – Deputy Minister of Public Security worked with the Department of Immigration on the implementation of the pilot project to issue online visa to foreigners, on June 1, in Hanoi. 

At the meeting, Major General Le Xuan Vien, Director of the Immigration Department of the General Department of Public Security reported that after nearly 4 months of implementation, as of May 30, the portal of online visa saw nearly 206,000 visits and over 22,000 foreigners asked for online visas to Vietnam. They were nationals of the US, UK, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Ireland, Slovakia, Japan, Sweden and China.

The department issued online visas to nearly 21,000 foreign people, of whom over 12,000 have entered Vietnam.

The checking of online visas at airports and inland border gates was conducted in line with the regulations, creating favorable conditions to visitors. 

On behalf of the delegation of the Public Security Ministry, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam recognized and praised the outcomes of the General Department of Public Security, particularly the Immigration Department in deploying the pilot programme in the past months.

He emphasized that the first positive results has showed the good and effective use of the online visa system, contributing to the determination of the public security force to renovate its state management functions of maintaining national security, social order and safety.

In addition, this has reconfirmed the right policy of the Government and National Assembly on online visa issuance.

Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam also instructed the Immigration Department to continuously perfect the procedures and information processing software as well as to overcome difficulties in the coming time.

The Immigration Department should be more active in collaborating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as the Ministry of Transport in promoting this online visa programme.
