Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung meets The Asia Group’s leader

Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung hosted a meeting, on the morning of April 13 in Hanoi, with a senior leader of The Asia Group Daniel Kritenbrink, who is a former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State and former U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung highly praised The Asia Group, a leading U.S. strategic consulting firm, for connecting American businesses with the Asia-Pacific market, including Vietnam.

He hailed the company’s stronger role in advising and connecting businesses and investors from the two countries in various areas such as science and technology, energy, healthcare and security and defense. He said the Ministry of Public Security wants to expand ties with trusted U.S. partners like The Asia Group to seek cooperation opportunities, with the aim of improving the country’s self-reliance and firmly protecting Vietnam’s economic security and social stability in a changing world.

In order to strengthen bilateral relations in the future, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung suggested that The Asia Group continue promoting trade and investment links between the two countries. He also wished the company would help the ministry access U.S. science and technology achievements, especially dual-use technologies, in support of the modernization of the Vietnamese People’s Public Security Forces.

He expressed hope that Mr. Daniel Kritenbrink, with his experience and reputation, will support Vietnam and the United States in handling economic and trade issues in a balanced way, as well as assist Vietnam in integrating more deeply into the global market economy.

The Deputy Minister proposed that The Asia Group to continue sharing information, introducing capable and reputable partners to the Vietnamese side and recommend the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam other possible areas of cooperation. He said the Ministry of Public Security is ready to listen to U.S. partners with a view to building a safe and favorable business environment for foreign companies, including American businesses.

During the talk with the U.S. business delegation, the Vietnamese official underlined Vietnam’s goodwill and effort to address issues of the U.S. administration’s concern, such as the trade deficit and intellectual property. He affirmed that Vietnam always supports foreign businesses, including U.S. companies, by offering investment incentives and other favorable policies.

Mr. Daniel Kritenbrink thanked Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung for the meeting. He said he appreciated the ministry’s support for the cooperation between The Asia Group and Vietnamese partners, and pledged that he and his team would continue serving as a bridge connecting trusted U.S. businesses with the Vietnamese side so that the two sides can promote cooperation in the fields that the country as well as the ministry need.

The guest expressed hope that the Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of Public Security would continue creating favorable conditions for U.S. businesses to invest and do business effectively in Vietnam, bringing benefits to both nations and helping bolster a healthy, stable, and prosperous Vietnam–U.S. economic and trade relationship.
