Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung received US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia – Pacific Daniel Kritenbrink, who is on a visit to Vietnam, on October 11, in Hanoi.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung stated that, along with the development of political, security and defense relations, the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and US partners has achieved remarkable results over the past time, especially in crime prevention and control, personnel capacity building, protection of citizens of one country working, studying and living in the other country.

The Ministry of Public Security proposed that Mr. Daniel Kritenbrink continue to advise the US Government to continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the United States to live, work and study in accordance with the local laws.

The host also suggested the guest advise the US Administration to early recognize Vietnam as a market economy, increase investment in the local public sector and become a leading investor of Vietnam, particularly in the fields of high technology, clean energy, green economy, high-quality infrastructure and seaport.

Regarding cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the two countries, the host expressed hope that the two sides would soon sign the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, the Agreement on Extradition, and the Agreement on Transfer of Convicted Persons in order to create a legal framework for the two side to expand cooperation.

Sincerely thanking Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung for the meeting, Mr. Daniel Kritenbrink emphasized that the bilateral relations between the US and Vietnam are on a good track of development in many fields.

The US Assistant Secretary of State affirmed that he will contribute his part to strengthening bilateral relations between Vietnam and the US in general and cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and US partners for more practical and effective outcomes.
