Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang attends year-end conference of the Immigration Department

The Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security held a conference, on December 26, 2022, in Hanoi, to review its task performance in 2022 and roll out its work plan in 2023.

In 2022, under the direction of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, and with the coordination of other agencies and units, the Immigration Department successfully completed its basic tasks according to the working schedule and targets assigned by the Ministry of Public Security.

Specifically, the Immigration Department advised higher-level authorities to issue guidelines and policies in the management of foreigners, sent 570 reports on the migration and immigration situation to leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, drafted 228 documents guiding immigration management forces, drew and implemented 90 plans to ensure security and safety for important political events of the country.

Speaking at the conference, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang recognized the work results achieved by the Immigration Department in 2022.

Regarding its key tasks in 2023, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the department should be well aware of the task of building a truly clean, regular, elite and modern immigration force in line with Resolution 12 of the Politburo.

Accordingly, the department should build a corps of officers who are excellent at the migration and immigration laws, professional skills and science and technology, facilitating the entry and exit of domestic and international people, organizations and businesses.

The Deputy Minister also suggested that the Immigration Department should continue administrative reforms, renovate administrative procedures, creating most favorable conditions for domestic and international businesses and people to enter or exit the country while strengthening the management of entry and exit.

At the same time, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang asked the Immigration Department to soon deploy 37 level-4 public services related to entry and exit, perfect the issuance of electronic passports, promote research and application of science and technology, artificial intelligence and biometric identification to the management of entry and exit.
