Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang meets Australian Minister for Home Affairs

Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security, paid a courtesy visit to Australian Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton on November 8.

Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang is leading a delegation of the MPS to attend the second No Money for Terror Conference in Melbourne.

Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang highlighted that the Vietnam – Australia relations have recently developed in all areas, including politics, economics and culture. In this circumstance, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and law enforcement agencies of Australia have continuously expanded cooperation in various areas, particularly after the first No Money for Terror Conference in Canberra last December.

The MPS of Vietnam has highly appreciated bilateral exchange of information about crimes and criminals, sharing of experience and expertise, coordination in investigation of major criminal cases related to drug-trafficking, high-tech crime and human trafficking involving citizens of the two countries.  

Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the fruitful cooperation outcomes have contributed to promoting the two sides’ strategic trust and the Vietnam – Australia Strategic Partnership.

Deputy Minister Quang also hoped that Australia would further support and coordinate with Vietnam as it will become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 period and ASEAN Chair in 2020.

For his part, Australian Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton stressed that Australia’s Department for Home Affairs is always willing to promote cooperation with the MPS of Vietnam in areas of mutual concern, for interests of the two peoples, for peace and stability in the region and world.
