Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang receives US Commission on International Religious Freedom delegation

PSNews - Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang received a delegation from the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), led by Commissioner Frederik Davie, on the afternoon of May 16th, 2023, in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang highly appreciated the visit of the USCIRF delegation to Vietnam and affirmed that the two countries share the common goal of ensuring people's right to freedom of belief and religion.

Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang stated that Vietnam is willing to promote cooperation with the US in general and the USCIRF  in particular in the field of religion on the basis of goodwill, openness and mutual respect, especially when the two countries are heading toward the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Partnership in 2023.

Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang also informed the USCIRF delegation of the publication of the white book on religions and religious policies in Vietnam, which provides detailed, transparent and accurate information on the religious policies as well as the achievements in ensuring people's right to freedom of belief and religion of Vietnam in the past time.

On behalf of the USCIRF delegation, Commissioner Frederik Davie sincerely thanked Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for the meeting as well as the frank and open discussion between the two sides, saying that the bilateral talk helped delegates have an insight into the religious situation in Vietnam. 

Commissioner Frederik Davie also acknowledged Vietnam’s effort and achievements in ensuring people's right to freedom of belief and religion, and affirmed that USCIRF will make practical contributions to promoting the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the US.
