Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc works with Thanh Hoa provincial police

PSNews - Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, leading a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), paid a working visit to the Thanh Hoa provincial police force on October 5.

At the meeting, Major General Tran Phu Ha, Director of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department briefed the delegation onthe implementation of the National Database on PopulationProject, the Citizen ID Card Project and the campaign to mobilze people to surrender illegally stored weapons, explosives, and combat gears to the authorities.

Regarding the National Database on Population Project, the provincial police have collected over 3.97 million population information declarations (or 100% of the population). After reviews, the local police have found, 3,603,036 forms (90.7%) have been declared exactly while 370,985 (9.3%) has been with wrong information.

Regarding the Citizen ID Card Project, the Thanh Hoa police have issued nearly 1.6 million ID cards for people across the province. To achieve the result, the local police units in charge of issuing and managing citizen ID cards had mobilized sufficient force and means and sought all ways to issue ID cards with microchips (e-ID cards) to 1.6 million citizens by July 1.

Additionally, the campaign to mobilize people to surrender illegally possessed weapons, explosives, and supporting tools to the authorities as well as to fight crimes and violations of laws related to weapons has achieved remarkable results. 

Since March 25, local people have surrendered 856 guns of all kinds, 743 rudimentary weapons, 66 grenades, bombs and mines, 1,789 bullets of all kinds, 8kg of explosives. Meanwhile, the local police have solved two cases with seven people accused of illegally buying and selling industrial explosives, and detected 100 other cases with 240 people violating laws on weapons, explosives, and combat gears.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc highly appreciated the results achieved by the Thanh Hoa provincial police over the past time.

The Deputy Minister acknowledged and took note all difficulties and problems arising while implementing the projects in the province, and promised to direct the specialized agencies to advise the MPS leaders on solutions to address them in the time to come.

* Earlier on the same day, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc and the delegation visited the Cam Thach commune police (Cam Thuy district)and the Cam Thuy district police. The Deputy Ministerlistened to reports delivered byleaders of the local police and authorities on the implementation of the above-mentioned projects.
