Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long pays courtesy call on Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister

PSNews - Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia Neth Savoeun on the afternoon of October 28 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

During the meeting, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun highly appreciated the visit of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security delegation led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long.

He affirmed that Cambodia attaches great importance to its relations with Vietnam, and expressed his wish to further strengthen multifaceted cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries in a practical and effective manner.

Regarding Cambodia’s cooperation with Vietnam in ensuring national security and combating crime, Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun emphasized that Cambodia’s competent agencies will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam to address issues of mutual concern in the spirit of the consistent principle of not allowing any organization or individual to take advantage of one country’s territory to undermine the other.

Thanking Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun for the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long reiterated Vietnam’s willingness to further develop its relationship with Cambodia in all areas, with security cooperation considered a key pillar in the bilateral relations.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long strongly acclaimed the Cambodian Government for its recent establishment of the Cambodian Committee for Combating Online Fraud, saying that it should be seen as a clear demonstration of Cambodia’s determination to address online fraud and drug-related crimes.

He also stressed that law enforcement agencies of both countries need to adopt stronger and more decisive measures to combat these complex crimes effectively.

From the above point of view, the Deputy Minister proposed that Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun, in his capacity as Vice Chairman of the Committee for Combating Online Fraud and Chairman of the National Committee for Drug Control of Cambodia, promote cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia in these two critical areas by establishing a direct hotline between the two ministries, collaborating with the Vietnamese side to conduct joint operations and campaigns on drug and online fraud prevention and hold annual joint conferences on a rotational basis.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long also expressed his hope that Cambodia would early complete its legal framework on preventing and combating crime in general and online fraud in particular so as facilitate coordination between competent forces of the two countries.

Sharing the same views as earlier mentioned by Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun affirmed that he will direct Cambodian competent agencies to enhance coordination between the two countries’ law enforcement forces to prevent and combat online fraud and drug-related crimes more efficiently in the time ahead.
