Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long praises Cao Bang Police Force for dismantling cyber fraud network

PSNews - Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long sent a letter of commendation to the Cao Bang Provincial Police Department, on October 4, 2025, praising the unit for successfully dismantling a criminal group that defrauded citizens and illegally appropriated their properties in cyberspace.

The content of the letter has been translated into English as follows:

Over the past time, the Cao Bang Provincial Police Department in coordination with the Criminal Police Department took synchronous professional measures to successfully dismantle an overseas-based online criminal network that made use of cyberspace to defraud Vietnamese citizens.

By now, the police have arrested 39 suspects and seized numerous documents and exhibits related to the case.

Investigation results showed that the suspects had impersonated public security officers and provided false information about citizens’ ID cards and their residency information to trick victims into installing malware applications so as to remotely control their smart phones.

The criminal group had illegally appropriated more than 700 billion VND from thousands of victims.

The local police’s success in clearing the case demonstrated their high sense of responsibility and sharp professional expertise while implementing directions of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security on combating hi-tech organized crimes.

The case also showed the close and effective coordination between under-ministerial departments and provincial police departments, which all try their best to prevent crime, ensure security and order.

Their victory contributed to cementing people’s trust in the Public Security Forces.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security’s leadership, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long praised the police department for the victory.

He also requested the Cao Bang Provincial Police Department to closely collaborate with other relevant police units and agencies to expand the investigation of the case and promptly complete the documentation so as to prosecute all those involved, in line with the laws.

The Deputy Minister wished the Cao Bang Provincial Police Department  more success in performing their assigned tasks in the coming time.
