Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long praises Ho Chi Minh City Police for clearing foreigner-involved criminal case

PSNews - Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long sent a letter of commendation to the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Police Department, praising the local police for shortly clearing a criminal case of unlawful imprisonment and extortion led by a group of foreign nationals, on March 24, 2025.

The content of the letter has been translated into English as follows:

Over the past time, the HCMC Police Department, in coordination with under-ministerial police departments and other police departments provinces and centrally-run cities, took synchronous professional measures to carry out investigation and clear a criminal case of unlawful imprisonment and extortion led by a group of foreign nationals.

The police have already arrested 7 suspects and safely rescued a victim of Chinese nationality.

The success in clearing the case demonstrated sharp professional expertise, strong determination and high sense of responsibility of the HCMC Police Force while implementing directions of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security on preventing and combating transnational organized crime.

The victory also reflected the close and effective collaboration among the involved under-ministerial police departments and police departments of localities, contributing to deterring criminals, preventing crime and reinforcing people’s trust in the Public Security Forces.

The achievement has further enriched the glorious tradition of the People’s Public Security Forces in general and the HCMC Police Force in particular, making a practical meaning contribution to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long praised the HCMC Police Force for the victory.

The Deputy Minister requested the police department to collaborate with other relevant police units and agencies to expand the investigation of the case and early finish the documentation so as to prosecute all the involved in line with the laws.

The Deputy Minister wished the HCMC Police Department more success in performing their assigned tasks in the coming time.
