PSNews - A working mission of the Ministry of Public Security led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long had a working session, on the morning of March 3, with the Binh Phuoc Provincial Police Department on its takeover of the State management of drug addiction treatment and post-rehabilitation management as well as the results of the local police’s criminal investigation, crime prevention and control.

Reporting to the visiting delegation, Deputy Director of the Binh Phuoc Provincial Police Department Senior Colonel Lam Van Long said that the provincial police with their strong sense of responsibility had seriously implemented the tasks of reorganizing the local police’s apparatus and reallocating functions and tasks to its subunits as well as taking over new working areas assigned to the provincial police agency.

Specially, the provincial police department smoothly took over  the State management task of drug addiction rehab and post-rehab management, and all 5 drug addiction rehab facilities in the province from March 1, 2025. Currently, all facilities operate normally without any problems.

In the field of crime prevention and control, local police paid more attention to the investigation of cases, especially cases of "murder" and "fraudulent appropriation of property”.

The officer underscored, the provincial police leadership also founded specialized working groups to investigate and handle the unsolved cases from the Investigation Police Agency of the District Police Station from March 1.

As the district-level police agency has dissolved since March 1, the Provincial Police Department has assigned the Administrative Management Police Division of Public Order to receive all records and documents while entrusting parts of the functions and tasks of administrative management of public order to communal-level police.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long praised the Binh Phuoc provincial police for their great effort, and gave specific instructions to the police department on all working aspects in the new situation.

The Deputy Minister requested the local police to ensure security and order at the five drug rehabilitation facilities must strictly ensure security and order, while improving the effectiveness of rehabilitation.

Regarding the fight against crime, he asked the local police leadership to organize specialized forces to work smoothly while assigning specific responsibilities to each officer, regularly reviewing and evaluating investigators to build a group of investigation officers who are all good at professional skills and adherent to localities.

The Ministry of Public Security will organize more specific conferences to guide the provincial police departments in other aspects of work, the Deputy Minister released.

* On the same day, Lieutenant General Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long and the working delegation made a field trip to Drug Rehabilitation Facility No. 1 in Phu Van commune, Bu Gia Map district.

Since March 1, the Binh Phuoc Provincial Police Department has officially been running Drug Rehabilitation Facility No. 1, whose name was Phu Van Drug Rehabilitation Center.

The rehab facility, which is currently treating nearly 2,000 drug addicts, is now managed and protected by officers and soldiers from the Counter-Narcotic Police Division and the Mobile Police Division under the Binh Phuoc Provincial Police Department.
