Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son presents gifts to people in flooded areas of Da Nang

PSNews - A delegation of the Ministry of Public Security led by Deputy Minister, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son on November 2 visited and presented gifts to people in the flood-hit district of Hoa Vang (Da Nang city).

After working with the Reformatory No. 3 under the Police Department of Management of Prison, Compulsory Re-education Center and Reformatory, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son and the delegation visited and gave gifts to 161 people of the Co Tu ethnic minority in Phu Tuc village, Hoa Phu commune, Hoa Vang district. During the Storm No. 9, the Reformatory No. 3 was one of the safe shelters for people in Hoa Vang commune, especially those of the Co Tu ethnic minority.

Although the storm did not directly hit Da Nang city, it still damaged lots of assets of local people, blew off roofs of numerous houses and broke down trees and power posts. As from the storm’s landfall, the police forces of Da Nang city implemented response plans and helped local people minimize losses caused by the natural disasters. After the natural disasters, the local police helped them overcome the consequences.

Especially, the Da Nang Municipal Police Department and its subunits focused their efforts on supporting needy and policy beneficiary families and old-aged people to recover their normal lives while joining hands with teachers and students in cleaning up local schools. They in coordination with other relevant agencies and units restored environmental sanitation and took measures to prevent diseases after the floods.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son requested the local police to direct the commune police force to advise the local authorities on measures to ensure security and order in the localities during evacuations. The communal policemen should also participate in regulating the traffic and guiding people to avoid road sections deeply flooded or blocked by landslides.

* On the same day, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son and the delegation of the Ministry of Public Security visited and offered necessities to 276 flooding victims in Ta Lang village, Giang Bi village, Hoa Bac commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city.
