Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son works with Thua Thien Hue police on natural disaster relief

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security, and a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security had a meeting on October 15 with police and other forces in Thua Thien Hue at the Huong Tra Town Police Station to review the work of natural disaster relief, search and rescue over the past days.

At the meeting, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Director of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police Department, highlighted that the provincial police actively joined local people in preventing natural disasters and overcoming the consequences.

Particularly, communal policemen in localities of Quang Dien, Phong Dien and Huong Tra towns mobilized forces and means to evacuate local people and their assets from high-risk areas to safer places.

After the landslide at Rao Trang 3 hydropower plant, the provincial police deployed officers and soldiers to coordinate with the local authorities in search for the missing victims. The local police went to the scene by boat so they were the first rescue force to reach the scene and successfully rescued 5 victims.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son extended the greetings from Minister To Lam to the officials and people of Thua Thien Hue. According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son, Minister To Lam praised the provincial police forces of Central provinces, particularly the Provincial Police Department of Thua Thien Hue, for their efforts to help people cope with floods and evacuate people from flooded areas, and support local people in overcoming the natural disaster’s aftermath.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son asked all police forces working in Thua Thien Hue to take effective measure to ensure safety of the people and their property, ensure security and order during and after the flooding. He also asked the provincial police to actively support local people to overcome consequences of the flooding and have plans to respond to next developments of floods.
