Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh congratulates CAND Newspaper on 74th anniversary of its first issue

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, on November 1 visited and worked with the Public Security Newspaper (PSNews) on the74th anniversary of its first issue (November 1, 1946 - 2020).

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh was welcomed by leaders of the Department of Information and Communications (DIC) of Public Security and the PSNews.

Speaking at the meeting, Senior Colonel Pham Khai, Editor-in-Chief of the PSNews, expressed his delight at a great gift presented by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the visit by the Deputy Minister.

Senior Colonel Pham Khai stated that over the past 74 years, the PSNews has gained various achievements and vigorous developments. For its achievements, the newspaper was presented with various honors and titles given by the Party and State. The newspaper is among the news agencies that has obtained the most national press awards over the past 25 years.

Along with its information service, the newspaper also mobilized individuals, businesses and organizations to donate over 5 billion VND in support of people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and those working on the frontline in the fight against the pandemic.

The PSNews also raised more than 7 billion VND for flood victims in Central provinces.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh and leaders of the DIC and PSNews recalled the development periods of the newspaper over the past 74 years.

He also highlighted that globalization has had great impacts on the press and media sector, saying that there has appeared the term “political invasion through globalization of the press”. This should be seen as a non-traditional security issue, the Deputy Minister said.

Deputy Minister Thanh asked the PSNews to strictly follow the teachings of Uncle Ho to the Public Security Forces and the press.
