Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh visits Austria and Switzerland

PSNews – A high ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security led by its Deputy Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh from December 12-16 visited Austria and Switzerland.

Shortly after his arrival in Austria, on December 12, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh had a working sessions with the Embassy of Vietnam in Austria and the Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN).

At the working session, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Austria Vu Viet Anh briefed the delegation on the achievements made by the staff of the Embassy over the past time.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh spoke highly of the Embassy’s achievements in diplomacy and other fields. He then informed the Embassy of national socio-economic developments and on the situation of security and order in Vietnam.

The Deputy Minister of Public Security emphasized that the Party and State always pay special attention to overseas Vietnamese communities in general and the one in Austria in particular.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh also highlighted results of the cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and UN’s relevant agencies, especially, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in preventing and fighting crimes.

He then called the Embassy to uphold achievements to promote cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and UN relevant agencies, contributing to maintaining domestic security and order, and for peace and stability in the region and the world.

During the visit to Austria, on December 13, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh had a meeting with Prof. Dr. Gerhard Chroust, General Secretary of the International Federation for Systems Research in Vienna.

On December 14-15, the delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security visited the Malik Institute in St. Gellen city, Switzerland, at the invitations of its founder, Prof. Dr. Fredmund Malik.

At the meeting with Dr. Fredmund Malik, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh highly appreciated the cooperation and contribution of the Institute to the Vietnamese authorities, including the Ministry of Public Security. The visiting Deputy Minister of Public Security then stressed the need to bolster cooperation between the two sides in the new context constituted of various emerging security challenges.

Under the authorization of the Deputy Minister, a delegation of the People’s Police Academy and the Department of Foreign Affairs under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security would continue working with the Institute until 17 Dec.
