Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen meets with leaders of Korean partners

PSNews - As a member of a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation headed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visiting the Republic of Korea, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, leading a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam, visited and had meetings with Korean law enforcement agencies from June 30th to July 3rd.

At the meeting with the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA), the two sides highly appreciated the positive achievements in the cooperation between the two countries in general and Vietnam’s MPS and KNPA in particular.

KNPA’s Commisioner General Yoon Hee-keun thanked Vietnam’s MPS for its close and effective coordination with KNPA in combating transnational crimes as well as tracking and arresting Korean wanted fugitives in Vietnam.

To further promote cooperation in the coming time, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen suggested that KNPA and Vietnam’s MPS enhance delegation exchange at all levels, promote specialized cooperation in crime prevention and control as well as expand cooperation between provincial-level police departments of the two countries.

The Vietnamese Deputy Minister wished that KNPA would closely cooperate with Vietnam’s MPS in implementing aid projects on forensic science and traffic management, organizing training courses on investigation of high-tech crimes, cyber frauds, drug-related crimes and child sexual abuse, analyzing and recovering electronic data and evidence as well as teaching Korean language to Vietnamese police officers, and promoting international cooperation via INTERPOL.

At the meeting with the Korean Supreme Prosecutors' Office (SPO), the two sides appreciated the results of cooperation between the two agencies over the past time.

The guest thanked the Korean SPO for the aid of sufficient equipment and facilities for the Counter-Narcotics Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam as well as invitation of Vietnam to send police officers to the Asia-Pacific Information & Coordination Centre for Combating Drug Crimes as liaison officers, saying that the Korean agency’s support contributed to enhancing the capabilities of preventing and fighting crimes of Vietnamese police forces.

Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen suggested that the two agencies enhance exchange of high-level and expert-level delegations, share information on transnational crime prevention, support each other in personnel training, while effectively implementing the signed memorandum of understanding between Vietnam’s MPS and Korean SPO.

Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen also wished that the Korean SPO would continue to support the Vietnam’s MPS in sufficient equipment and facilities in the coming time.

At the meetings, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen sincerely thanked leaders of the Korean law enforcement agencies for sending congratulations to General To Lam upon his selection as Vietnam’s State President and to Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang upon his appoinment as Minister of the Public Security.

Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen took the occasion to invite leaders of the Korean agencies to visit Vietnam in the coming time.
