Within the framework of his visit to Japan to attend the 10th Vietnam–Japan Deputy Ministerial Security Dialogue, Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung paid a courtesy call on Commissioner General of the National Police Agency of Japan Yoshinobu Kusunoki, on June 16, in Tokyo.

Thanking Commissioner General Yoshinobu Kusunoki for the meeting, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung conveyed greetings and best regards from Minister of Public Security of Vietnam General Luong Tam Quang to the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency of Japan.

At the meeting, the two sides highly appreciated the effective maintenance of high-level exchanges between the two countries, notably the telephone conversation between General Secretary and State President To Lam and Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae in April 2026, as well as Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae’s visit to Vietnam in May 2026.

In addition, a number of dialogue and cooperation mechanisms have been upgraded or newly established, including the bilateral INTERPOL Conference and the elevation of the 2+2 Dialogue between the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense.

These mechanisms have contributed significantly to strengthening strategic trust and further deepening the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World.

Regarding cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Japan’s National Police Agency, the two sides noted that, since the 9th Vietnam–Japan Deputy Ministerial Security Dialogue, they have effectively maintained exchanges of ministerial-level and expert-level delegations while strengthening coordination in information verification, criminal investigation and the handling of numerous requests through diplomatic channels and INTERPOL mechanisms.

For his part, Commissioner General of Japan’s National Police Agency Yoshinobu Kusunoki highly appreciated the positive outcomes of bilateral cooperation in recent years and expressed his belief that the 10th Vietnam–Japan Deputy Ministerial Security Dialogue would achieve substantive results, contributing to effectively addressing issues of mutual concern and further strengthening security cooperation between the two countries.
