Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To asks Hai Phong police to promote emulation movements

Major General Tran Quoc To, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, on June 9 attended and delivered a keynote speech at a meeting organized by the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department to honor teams and individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "For Homeland Security" in the period of 2015-2020.

Over the past five years, the Hai Phong city’s police have received many awards and honors from the Government, the Ministry of Public Security as well as the local authorities, and people for their efforts, achievements, and responsibility at work.

In the period of 2015-2020, the local police forces have successfully investigated 82.6% of the total criminal cases (2,931 cases out of the total 3,550), arrested 5,629 people involved. Of the figure, 952 economic cases were solved with a large number of goods and exhibits seized, worth VND 200 billion in total. Particularly, the local police detected and handled 2,251 drug-related cases with 4,600 offenders arrested and 55kg of heroin, 146kg of synthetic drugs, and many other exhibits seized. The local police forces also mobilized people to surrender 686 guns of all kinds, 17,057 bullets, 2,331kg of explosives, and 8,104 rudimentary weapons to the authorities.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To praised the achievements obtained by the Hai Phong city’s police officers and soldiers in the emulation movement "For National Security" over the past time, especially 56 teams and 162 individuals honored at the meeting.

Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To requested the Hai Phong Municipal Police Department to consider the work of emulation and commendation as one of the key tasks at all units in the time to come.

They should also promote the emulation movement "For National Security" along with the campaign “Following President Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, morals and lifestyle”, the movement "People's Public Security studying and following Uncle Ho’s six teachings", and the movement “Building public security officers’ manners of bravery, humanity and devotedness to people”.

The chains of command of all local police units should also popularize and promote the beautiful image of the local police forces in the community while improving the sense of responsibility for work of all police officers and soldiers so that they can successfully fulfill all the assigned tasks.
